The new patio space can be enjoyed by teachers .
Members of the Boy's Interact Service Club at Plant City High School aren't afraid to get their hands dirty.
Club members gathered at the school bright and early on Saturday, Feb. 13. Students spent the morning converting an overgrown patio used for smoking into an outdoor space for teachers. The service club members spent their morning removing overgrown vegetation, clearing dirt and weeds and trimming back overgrown plants.
The goal of the project was to convert the space into an outdoor environment that can be enjoyed by everyone.
"Our president, Arie Fry, came up with the idea as a way to improve the school and to get community service hours for the Interact boys," Jennifer Hamilton, club sponsor, said. "We had a planning meeting on Club Day and put together our ideas for what it would take to get it up to par."
Other club members who helped with the project include Clay Adams, Troy Surrency, Jackson Nichols, Blake Dunn, Adam Hrabe, Xavier Robinson, and Noah Hrabe.
