Walden Lake, the shining star of Plant City, has been part of our great city for almost 50 yrs. But, it didn’t just happen.
The property was peppered with lakes ponds, and sink holes, basically worthless, not buildable, and not called Walden Lake. In fact there is a body of water called Mud Lake.
Mr. Hoffman, the original developer, didn’t see it that way, He envisioned a community of single family homes, which had recreation for adults and kids providing swimming, tennis, golf, and riding stables. The biggest obstacle for development “water”, remember this was a swamp.
With the help of DPE, and Swift Mud coordinating with water management engineers Hoffman learned that dredging the bodies of water and using that dirt to solidify the neighborhoods the golf course would become critical in water management. The last hurricane should be a valuable lesson to everyone. From a water stand point, we were saturated.
(THE PROBLEM) Common sense tells you that you must identify a problem before you can solve the problem, and the problem is simple. Walden Lake LLC. Has lied, has deceived, has misrepresented themselves, harassed the residents with misinformation and threats. In reality, they did not do there due diligence and now they want the residents of Walden Lake to pay for their mistakes.
They don’t get it? To them it’s a job, to use, for the most part, it’s the biggest investment we have, but more important this is our home!
That being said the current board needs to step up and be positive about their job. Draw that line in the sand and made a committed decision. Do the right thing. Engage in the fight, or resign.

I am a member of The Villages Twirlers and we participated in the Strawberry Festival parade last week. I want to thank the people of Plant City who attended the parade. We were welcomed with cheering and encouragement from all ages the entire two miles of the parade. I could not believe how kind and thoughtful the people were to us. It really lifted my spirits.
