On Saturday, March 12, Plant City residents will hit the stage and lip sync to their favorite songs and musical numbers as part of the 2016 Lip Sync Dance Party.
Though the event itself is full of fun and silly entertainment, all funds raised will be going toward helping Plant City Community Development Corp. (PCCDC) provide affordable housing to first-time homebuyers.
Through its various programs, PCCDC has provided 23 homes to families. Thirteen of the homes were obtained through the organization's partnership with Hillsborough County's Neighborhood Stabilization Program Partnership, and the other 10 homes were newly constructed.
The goal of PCCDC is to create neighborhood revitalization through affordable home ownership. The organization provides first-time home buyer assistance, housing counseling and access to down payment assistance programs, which are funded by the Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Department. Additionally, the organization has partnered with the City of Plant City to ensure high-quality and affordable homes for program participants.
For their annual goal, PCCDC hopes to help 10 new families obtain affordable housing in Plant City, through
either building or buying. All funds raised from ticket sales, sponsorships and monetary donations for the Lip Sync Dance Party will go toward helping PCCDC reach its goal.
The March 12 event is hosted by Arts Meet Entertainment, and will be held in the John R. Trinkle Center on the Hillsborough Community College campus. Tickets are $20 per person, for adults 18 and over only.
