Kyle Pierce Duncan was caught with a backpack full of drugs.
A Lakeland man was arrested early Friday, March 18 after a high-speed chase through Plant City.
Kyle Pierce Duncan, 29, was caught running a stop sign at 3:05 a.m. at the intersection of Maydell Drive and State Road 60, in Tampa, and Florida Highway patrol initiated a traffic stop. Duncan had ignored the stop sign and made a wide right turn, veering into a left turn lane, and then attempted to evade Florida Highway Patrol.
Duncan traveled north on Interstate 75, got off on Interstate 4 and exited onto Paul Buchman Highway, when FHP requested aerial assistance from Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Attempts were made to disable Duncan's SUV near Sam Allen and Wilder roads, but Duncan continued to drive through Lakeland.
Duncan lost control of the vehicle on Harrelson Road, in Lakeland, and attempted to flee on foot. He was brought down by a K-9 unit and, upon apprehension, was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine, MDMA, marijuana and a digital scale, all stuffed into his backpack. Due to injuries sustained from dog bites, Duncan was transported to a hospital before being booked into the Polk County Detention Center.
He was charged with Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, DUI, Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance (MDMA), Possession of Marijuana under 20 grams, DWLS/R – Habitual Traffic Offender, Battery on Law Enforcement K-9, Resisting Without Violence and Possession of Paraphernalia.
