One Durant man is dead following a Dec. 4 single-car, alcohol-related crash.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, at about 10 p.m. Dec. 4, Johan Guevara, 25, and Antonio Marquez-Felixe, 25, of Durant, were driving in the inside lane on State Road 60, west of State Road 39, in a 1999 Lincoln sedan. It is unclear who was driving. The drive lost control of the vehicle, which traveled into the grass median. The driver over-corrected and traveled back across the eastbound lanes of S.R. 60 and collided with a ditch.
The vehicle continued through the ditch, vaulted and overturned onto its left side. As the vehicle overturned, both Guevara and Marquez-Felixe were ejected from the vehicle. Geuvara was transported to Tampa General Hospital and died Dec. 8. Marquez-Felixe was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Both were unrestrained at the time of the crash.
