The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal stabbing in Plant City.
On Friday, August 23, deputies responded to the report of a stabbing in the 5800 block of Bob Smith Avenue just before 1:00 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies located a victim with severe upper-body trauma. Throughout the investigation, detectives learned a verbal argument had ensued and escalated. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later died as a result of his injuries.
Roelmer Fabrisio Mo-Quix, 18, was arrested and is facing a Murder in the Second Degree with a Weapon charge.
“Any argument, no matter how intense, should never result in the loss of life. Violence is not and will never be accepted in our county,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of every resident, and we will hold those who resort to violence accountable.”
According to sources, the accused and the victim were both from Guatemala and entered the U.S. illegally approximately two weeks prior to the incident.
The victim’s name will be released once the next of kin has been notified, ensuring that their family is informed before any further details are made public.
