A 72-year-old Plant City man was hospitalized after a home caught fire late last night.
According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue reports, a crew responded to a fire at about 11:30 p.m. Dec. 15, at the home at 2303 South Wiggins Road. The crew was flagged down by a 50-year-old female, who had her 72-year-old father lying in the grass.
Some personnel attended to the male, while others attacked the fire and searched for any additional victims, with none found. The single-story residential structure sustained significant fire damage near the front, left corner of the house.
The fire was extinguished quickly by interior attack, and crews climbed through the attic space to put out the last of the flames.
The male was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family with any immediate needs.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
