Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a Dec. 27 shooting at the Family Bowl, in Plant City.
According to Sheriff’s Office reports, Harrison Cumbie got into an argument with the suspect at about 11:47 p.m. Dec. 27, in the parking lot of Family Bowl, 2250 E. U.S. 92. During the fight, Cumbie was shot once in the chest.
The suspect was detained by Plant City Police Department officers, until Sheriff’s Office detectives arrived. The weapon was recovered, and Cumbie was transported to the hospital.
Cumbie currently is in intensive care at a local hospital. Longtime friend Toni Christie said he endured 12 hours of surgery.
“He is breathing on his own, but they (keep) putting him back on life support for him to rest,” Christie said.
Currently, no arrests have been made, said Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Larry McKinnon. The suspect has not been identified by investigators.
“All I can say is that no charges have been filed at this time,” he said, “Once we’ve completed the investigation, the case will be turned over to the State Attorney’s Office, (which) will decide if and what charges will be filed. I have no idea when that may occur.”
According to his profile on Facebook, Cumbie married his wife, Megan, in April.
Since the shooting, friends and family members have been donating blood in Cumbie’s name. Donations can be made at local OneBlood centers:
