CHILDREN’S BOARD FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER OFFERS STEAM LEARNING.
The MOSI in Motion exhibit at the Children’s Board Family Resource Center in Plant City will provide Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) learning opportunities and family engagement to children four to 11 years old and their families.
“We are proud to support the MOSI in Motion program, which inspires curiosity and creativity in children,” said Rebecca Bacon, Executive Director of the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County. “Through engaging experiences like the ‘Be the Astronaut’ exhibit, hands-on STEAM workshops, and family nights, this program not only fosters a love for science and technology but also strengthens family bonds through learning and exploration. We are excited to see children and families in Plant City embark on this journey of discovery together.”
This learning opportunity has set up three space-flight simulators, an educational display, and a reading nook.
“MOSI is delighted to be partnering with the Children’s Board to bring its hands-on style of STEAM education directly to the Plant City community,” MOSI CEO John Smith said. “We hope to positively impact families where they live and learn and entice them to our main location to further their educational journey,”
When children see the MOSI resources, “Their faces light up immediately,” Carson Brett, a staff person at the Family Resource Center, said. “As a MOSI kid—I grew up at MOSI—they had the same excitement I did walking in. It’s just a little branch of MOSI, but to them it is something major because it is new. They are fascinated by the astronomical effects, and MOSI brings people in to facilitate—they love it and the kids love it. It is all around a great interaction.”
