MEET THE CHIEFS’ BREAKFAST

A breakfast will be held for the new Plant City Police Department Chief of Police and Deputy Chiefs on August 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Johnson’s Barbeque. This is a chance for the public to meet our new Chief of Police and Deputy Chiefs. The breakfast is sponsored by The Friends of the Plant City Police Department Foundation and Johnson’s Barbeque. The address to attend is 1407 W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.

PRESCRIPTION DROP-OFF

To help make a positive change in our city, help stop prescription drug abuse by dropping off unwanted or expired medications to the Plant City Police Department. You may drop off the prescriptions Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 1 Police Center Drive, Plant City. It is important to follow the disposal instructions:

 • All medications should be in a bottle (liquid, pills, or tablets)

 • All bottles should be packaged in a bag to prevent leaks or exposure

 • Remove the labels to scratch off personal information

 • The Public Safety Representative (PSR) in the front lobby will assist

FREE VETERAN ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., local military veterans can stop by the Bing House Museum, located at 205 Allen St and receive free assistance in applying for veteran benefits. No appointments are necessary, as you can just stop by. For questions, call 813-757-6760. Mr. Hampton George, a retired U.S. Army veteran, has assisted over 3,000 veterans since October of 2020. To all veterans, Thank you for your service.

CITY COMMISSION MEETING
At the August 26 City Commission meeting, there will be a legislative public hearing for a text amendment to Division 11 of Article VII, Chapter 102 Access management, off-street parking, circulation, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities requirements (PB-2024-20). Among other things, this addresses potential provisions to change uses and/or the number of parking spaces required for manufacturing/light industrial, rooming house, boardinghouse/club, and restaurants with drive-thrus.

CVS TO CLOSE SOON 

The CVS on 2302 James L. Redman Pkwy, Plant City, FL 33563 will be closing soon. The expected closing date is August 27, 2024. The other nearby local CVS located at 403 N Alexander St. will remain open.
