WWII VETERAN CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY 

A birthday party was held Tuesday for 102-year-old WWII veteran Russell Silvers. Friends and family came, including his younger twin sisters. The Strawberry Crest JROTC was there to honor him as well. He served for the U.S. Coastguard on the USS Grand Rapids. Happy Birthday Mr. Silvers and thank you for your service!

MEALS ON WHEELS

Meals on Wheels needs three permanent volunteer drivers. The organization aids in addressing senior hunger and isolation in every community. To apply, call the Meals on Wheels office at (813) 754-9932. Office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. For any questions, call Rebecca Burns at (813) 326-2981.

OPEN HOUSE EVENT

Hillsborough County Adult Day Services is organizing an Open House Event in honor of National Adult Day Services Week on September 20. Hillsborough County Adult Day services seniors, 60 years and older, that have frailties and comorbidities. They specialize in servicing individuals with Alzheimer’s related diagnoses and strive to enhance their quality of life by focusing on the seven dimensions of wellness. The event will be held on Friday, September 20, at the Plant City Adult Day Center located at 1205 South Waller Street from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The open house is scheduled to have, demonstrations, engaging activities, guest speakers, and a light lunch. Gift cards, discount cards, or any other type of contribution would be greatly appreciated. Your support would be invaluable in helping make a positive impact on these families. Due to the proximity of the event, they are unable to process a sponsorship for this occasion. However, they would love to discuss establishing future sponsorships. 

4TH ANNUAL LEADERSHIP PRAYER BREAKFAST

The 4th Annual Leadership Prayer Breakfast will take place on Wednesday, September 25, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Florida Strawberry Festival- TECO Expo Hall, 2301 West Oak Avenue. This year, the keynote speaker is Florida’s First Lady, Casey DeSantis. She will be bringing a message of encouragement and hope for Florida and the future. In these tumultuous times, we all need a word of “Hope.” She has been travelling the state and sharing “Hope” and love everywhere she goes—and you will not want to miss out. Pastor Paul K. Blair will be another guest speaker. He is a former NFL Player and college football star, so he knows what it takes to be a great leader. He is now a Pastor in Oklahoma and the Founder of Liberty Pastors. His message will challenge and inspire everyone. He has been knocked down many times, yet he still fought back even from the point of death. He will be giving a life impacting message. There are Platinum, Gold and Silver Sponsorships available. Seating will be based on the type of Sponsorship and date of sponsorship. The earlier a sponsorship is received, the better the seat location. 

OKTOBERFEST IN DOWNTOWN PLANT CITY

The 3rd annual Oktoberfest will occur in Historic Downtown Plant City on September 28, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Join in for a fun time full of live music, Main Street kids’ zone, exhibitors, stein holding competition, axe throwing, costume contests, rides, games and so much more.
