2025 FLORIDA STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL QUEEN’S SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT

Are you interested in participating in a pageant? Here is the perfect one for you! The Florida Strawberry Festival Queen’s Pageant offers young women the chance to engage in an exciting pageant, meet other young women, expand leadership skills, and even have the chance to win scholarship money. If you are interested, there are three meetings that you can attend. To participate in the pageant, it is mandatory that you attend at least one. The dates for the pageants are listed below. The meetings will be held at the Arthur Boring Civic Center Building on the Strawberry Festival Grounds. Candidates under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The application deadline is November 5, at 5:00 p.m. and the pageant is set for January 18, 2025, starting at 6:00 p.m.

Dates:

 Sunday, October 27, 2024: 3:00 p.m.

 Monday, October 28, 2024: 5:30 p.m.

 Tuesday, October 29, 2024: 5:30 p.m. 

BUSINESS BUILDER WORKSHOP

Join Plant City Main Street on November 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for their business builder workshops. This award-winning quarterly series is geared to empower downtown Plant City small businesses with creative marketing strategies for heightened success and visibility in the historic district. Guide yourself in developing effective end-of-year marketing strategies and planning for the new year. Gain insights into leveraging the holiday season and creating a roadmap for success in the year ahead. The goal is for small business owners to leave with a clear understanding of effective end-of-year marketing strategies and a tangible plan for success in the upcoming year. Plant City Main Street will be hosting the quarterly Business Builder Workshops, with instruction provided by Tina Marie, Marketing & Communications Specialist. Details are as follows:

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN     NAMING NEW TECHNICAL COLLEGE

Hillsborough County Public Schools invites the community to participate in naming the new technical college set to open in Plant City in Fall 2025. The technical college will be located at 1690 E. Park Road. It will offer career-focused programs such as Industrial Electricity, Welding Technology, Building Construction, HVAC, and Forklift Certification. These courses are designed to be completed in approximately one year, allowing students to swiftly enter high-demand, well-paying jobs. The survey opened Monday, October 21 at 9:00 a.m. and will close Friday, November 8 at 5:00 p.m. To submit your name suggestion, use this link: https://bit.ly/plantcitytechnical.

After the survey is completed, the district will gather the suggestions and present them to the school board. They intend to vote on the official name at their meeting on Tuesday, December 17. Be creative, have fun, and good luck! 

CELEBRATE THE CHRISTMAS SEASON IN PLANT CITY

Plant City Community Chorale is excited to announce that the 2024 Winter Concert will offer two performances. The first concert will be held on Thursday, November 11, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Tampa. The second concert will be held on Sunday, December 15, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Plant City. The Thursday concert begins at 7:00 p.m. and the Sunday concert begins at 5:00 p.m. 

Tickets are $15.00 (cash, debit, and credit cards accepted) and are available at:

You can also purchase tickets at Walden Lake Car Wash or at the door the night of the concert. Children 12 and younger are free.
