WISH FARMS HARVESTS FIRST STRAWBERRY FLAT IN FLORIDA
Strawberry season is finally here… Wish Farms, a Plant City-based, international grower and year-round marketer of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and pineberries, is pleased to announce that its farm has harvested the first strawberry flat in the state of Florida! Chris Parks, the Farm manager, announced this accomplishment to the Florida Strawberry Growers Association, which celebrated the annual feat officially kicking off the season! “This achievement means a lot to us at this moment in time. The last few weeks have been challenging after our farm sustained quite a bit of storm damage,” PR Director Nick Wishnatzki said. The company is optimistic that this season will be a success, and berry flavor will be exceptional. Get excited, as you will be able to find Florida strawberries on grocery store shelves in the coming weeks!

WATERING RESTRICTIONS
The Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board voted to rescind the Modified Phase 1 Water Shortage Order originally enacted in November 2023. This eliminates one-day-per-week watering restrictions for Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. Plant City is now on a two-day-per-week irrigation schedule.
MAGNET APPLICATION WINDOW
The upcoming magnet application window for Hillsborough County Schools is opening soon. The magnet window is November 11- December 31, 2024. There will be a Prospective Families Open House on Thursday, November 14 at Lincoln Elementary Magnet School. School tours are also offered. WOMEN’S HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS
Do you have a woman mentor, teacher, or business leader who has made a significant impact on the community? Nominate them to be considered for the Women’s Hall of Fame. The Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women (COSW) is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Hillsborough County Women’s Hall of Fame. Created in 2011, the program celebrates the achievements of Hillsborough County women who have made significant contributions in areas such as social services, education, philanthropy, the military, and public service to improve the lives of residents. This honor is given to three recipients each year. Nomination forms are available at HCFL.gov/WHOF and will be accepted until 5:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 18.
