Joseph (Joe) DeMello

It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) DeMello, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and proud U.S. Marine, who passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born on August 17, 1931, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Joe lived a life marked by his unwavering devotion to his family and his country. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and bravely served in the Korean War in the battle of Chosin Reservoir and was part of the “Chosin Few.” Joe has been awarded the Purple Heart Medal, Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Service Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation with two bronze stars, as well as many other distinguished awards and decorations. His service to his country remained a source of pride throughout his life.
Joe was a devoted husband to his wife Hilda DeMello (deceased) for 69 years and a loving father to his children Joyce Giusti (Bob Giusti) and Raul DeMello (Lori DeMello). He was a proud grandfather to Mark Giusti (Angie Giusti), Brandon Giusti, and Ryan DeMello (Katelyn DeMello), as well as a loving and proud great grandfather to Eliana Giusti and Liam DeMello.
Rest in peace, Dad. You were a hero, not just in your service to our country but in the way you loved and cared for us all. Your legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know you.
