Bette Bergman Heydrick

Bette Bergman Heydrick entered into life eternal on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, following a long life well lived. She was born April 15, 1926, in Kankakee, Illinois, the daughter of Chester H and Myrtle Minglin Davis, who preceded her in death, as did her sisters, Marjorie Davis Kroener, Natalie Davis Foisy, and her only son Thomas James Bergman.
In 1946 she married James F. Bergman. The marriage ended in divorce and in 1964 she married Allen K. Heydrick.
Her entire career was in the secretarial field, and she earned the designation Certified Professional Secretary, the same year that she became New Orleans Secretary of the year. When she retired in 1988, she was Assistant City Clerk at Lighthouse Point, FL.
Bette was an active member of the Professional Secretaries association during her career and was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer in her church, and a proud member of the Chancel Choir for 20 years. She also enjoyed volunteering with other community organizations.
Bette was a full-body donor. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Sherry Simonich, granddaughters Amber Elizabeth Bergman and husband Shawn Mathew Lavergne and her only great granddaughter Olivia Pearl Lavergne, and Allie Marie Bergman of Baton Rouge, LA; niece Diane Nieminski of Oak Forest IL; Debbie Ahrweiler of Mokena, IL; nephew Mike and wife Debbie of Momence IL; grandnieces and nephews.
Bette considered every day a precious gift of God, and life an exciting adventure. She would like to be remembered as a child of God who tried her best to please Him.
A “Thanks for the Memories” service luncheon for Bette will be held on Thursday Mar. 13, 2025, at First United Methodist Church. Memorial remembrances may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 303 N. Evers St., Plant City, FL 33563.
