Gerald “Putt” Dee Crouse

Gerald “Putt” Dee Crouse, known affectionately as Putt to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, in Plant City, Florida, at the age of 88. Friends and family will be received Aug. 2, 2024, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 2001 N Park Rd., Plant City, FL 33563. Doris Lynn Herring

Doris Lynn Herring, affectionately known as Lynn to her friends and family, departed this world on July 24, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on Oct. 15, 1965, in Plant City, Florida, she was a lifelong resident and a cherished member of the community. Melvin Wetherington

Melvin Wetherington died suddenly on June 29, 2024, after a short illness.

Mel was born on Mar. 3, 1938, to Evelyn and Thomas “CHET” Wetherington. Mel attended Plant City High School in 1956 and was a graduate of the University of Florida 1960. 

He served in the military as a U.S. Army Reservist. Mel specialized in General Building and Contracting. Launching Millwork Specialties of Lakeland and M.C. Wetherington Construction, Inc. in Lakeland, Florida, and then established MCW Consulting, a construction company based in Naples, Florida. Mel was a former Rotarian of Naples, FL.

Mel is survived by his wife, Judy Wetherington, their combined children, son; Steve Wetherington, daughter; Lisa Wildes, grandchildren; Joshua Johnson, Kristen Case, Albert Johnson, and step-children; Louis Troiani, Julius Troiani, Tracy DiGiacomo and Kimberly Walker, grandchildren; Enzo Troiani, Ava Troiani, Natalie Navas, Jonathan Zesiger, Giovanni DiGiacomo, and Giancarlo DiGiacomo, Greatgrandchildren; Jordan Lamb and baby Case, and his sister; Dolores Griffin, niece; Melanie Padron and Nephew; Jeff Griffin.

Mel was dearly loved and a respected member of our community and a true Florida boy through and through. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing and was a lifelong Gator fan. His passion was flying his twin engine Comanche plane. Mel and Judy were members of Naples First Baptist Church.

There will be a viewing in Naples, FL at Fuller Funeral Home Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. Services will be Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801.

Angus Plez Grace Sr.

Angus Plez Grace Sr., age 84 of Cullman, Alabama (formerly of Plant City, Fla., went to be with Jesus on July 26, 2024. He is welcomed into heaven’s gates by his daughter Terri Marie Clark and his beloved granddaughter Anastasia Nichole Boyd. 

Angus was born on Jan. 8, 1940, in Enterprise, Alabama to James and Emma Grace. Angus served a total of 6 years in the United States Navy and worked for the United States Post Office as a mailman for 26 years, followed by 5 years as a bag boy at Publix to keep himself busy. Angus is survived by Jewell Grace, the love of his life, mother to his children and former spouse, his children Angus Plez Grace Jr., Anita (John) Dennert, April Smith; his dedicated caretaker of 20 years, grandchildren Daniel (Evelyn) Clark, Christina M. Clark, Amber (George) Negrin, Andrew (Alyssa) Clark, Megan Dennert, Jaden (Kindyl) Smith, Ryan Smith, Mackenzie (Javier) Torres, Emilee Smith, nine great grandchildren, sister Melba (Kenny) Putnell, and a host of nieces and nephews. Angus was a huge fan of the Florida Gators and loved collecting Hess Trucks. He could always be found watching a baseball or football game, and you would always get a good joke or scare out of him. He was a hard worker and always provided for his family. He will be missed by all that loved him. 

A celebration of life funeral service was held July 31, 2024, at Moss Service Funeral Home, 1901 2nd Ave. NW, Cullman, AL 35055. 

Angus will be laid to rest in Jones Chapel Cemetery, 235 Co Rd 1114, Cullman, Alabama.
