Emogene Overcast
Momma/Granny/Aunt Emogene/Sis Emogene Overcast passed away on Sept. 14, 2024, in Lakeland, Fla., at the age of 85. She was born to Angres Walter and Lillie Mae Rogers on Feb. 25, 1939.
She married Wayne D. Overcast on April 3, 1956. She was a homemaker, salesclerk, store manager, and sandwich maker. She was a licensed Minister of Full Gospel Tabernacle in Plant City for 32 years but had preached the Gospel for many years prior to that. Her first sermon was at the age of 12.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Brothers, Glenn Rogers and JW Rogers; Sisters, Louise Roberts and LuCreel Martin; Husband, Wayne; Daughter, Kathy J. Sellers; Granddaughter, Nikki Marsh and Grandson, Michael W. Overcast. Her survivors include, one brother, Lester (Bud) Rogers; one son, David Walter Overcast; Three daughters: Laura Norris (Chuck), Christy Adams (Kevin) and Linda Moats; Eight grandchildren: David, Courtney (Jesse), Lizzy, Jonathan, Chelsea, Seth, and Donna; Fourteen great-grandchildren:
Alyson, Reina, KiAnna, Luis, Savanna, RaeLynn, Lillie, Landon, Michal, Maverick, Liam, Luka, Austin, and Nash; numerous nieces and nephews as well as additional “grandchildren” (some blood, some by choice), but she loved each one to the best of her ability.
A Visitation will be on Sept. 20, 2024, at Wells Memorial Funeral Home, 1903 W. Reynolds Street, Plant City, FL 33563 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be on Sept. 21, 2024, at Full Gospel Tabernacle, 2311 Sammonds Road, Plant City, FL 33563 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Enon Cemetery.
