Mr. Billy ‘B.J.’ Jeffrey Patterson

Mr. Billy “B.J.” Jeffrey Patterson, 47, of Lakeland, Fla., made his way to Heaven Wednesday morning, Nov. 6, 2024. He was born July 14, 1977, in Lakeland, Fla., the son of the late Billy and Sandra D.  Patterson, who preceded him in death.

He was known to be genuine, gentle, protective, and hard-working. He cherished his faith and his family. He and his wife of 16 years and children attended Welcome Baptist Church in Plant City. B.J. had 30 years of experience in metal fabrication, which led him to own his own fabrication business. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, a bond that was the cornerstone of his life.

B.J. is survived by his wife, Christa Simons Patterson; their children, Macie Patterson and Walker Patterson; sister, Jessica Pisculli (John); aunts, Missy Thomas and Sharon Miller (Steve); cousins, Jim King, Karla King, and C.J. King, and nieces and nephews Jovani, Harper, and Hudson Pisculli. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

A funeral service was held Nov. 13, 2024, at Lone Oak Baptist Church, 3505 Lone Oak Rd, Plant City, FL with Brother Kerry Beaty and Brother Charlie Thornton officiating. The following individuals, who were close friends and family members of B.J., served as pallbearers: Adam, Chase, Jay, Dennis, Matt, CJ, and Kyle.

Edward Michael daSilva

Edward Michael daSilva, Sr., 80, of Plant City, Fla., passed away on Nov. 8, 2024, after a short illness. Edward was born on June 9, 1944, to Lourdes (Marques) and Manuel daSilva in Fall River, MA. After Edward graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River, he went on to study business at UMass Dartmouth. In 1961 Edward met Jo-Anne in the Civil Air Patrol. In 1966 Edward graduated from college and that August, Edward and Jo-Anne were married in Newport, Rhode Island. After several moves, they had a son and a daughter. Edward Jr. (Terry) & Lucy Chellis (Brad). In 1997 a granddaughter named Ashleigh da Silva followed. After graduating with a degree in business Edward continued his passion in aviation that he started at age 14. As he achieved aviation certificates he started as a flight instructor, went on to small corporate companies flying corporate jets. Edward continued on to work for the FAA as an aviation safety inspector, which he did for 25 years and retired in 2016. During his time in aviation, he was a pilot for Civil Air Patrol flying the Piper L-4 Grasshopper flying cadets. Edward also flew many different aircrafts over the years including corporate jets, gliders and everything in between. Due to all of his accomplishments he earned The Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award on Oct. 1, 2020, in recognition of Edwards “50 years of exemplary aviation flight experience, distinguished professionalism, and steadfast commitment to aviation safety.” Edward was a member of EAA and worked with the Sun and Fun event in Lakeland for a few years. Edward also loved to ride motorcycles and was with Christian Motorcyclist Association for almost 25 years. Edward was an active member of First Baptist Church Plant City where he was a part of the First Men’s Ministry. A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church Plant City, 3309 James L. Redman Parkway, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Committal to follow at Hopewell Memorial Gardens, Plant City. Howard P. Brown, 93 of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Nov. 7, 2024, at his home in Plant City, Fla., surrounded by his family. Howard was born on July 27, 1931, in Hartington, Nebraska. Services will be held privately by the family.
