Betty J. Longerich, 71, of Beverly Hills, Florida, died from a brain aneurysm in Winston-Salem, North Carolina,
Mrs. Longerich was born March 31, 1943 at home in Dover, to Thomas Lee Woodard and Mildred Lloyd. In the early 1950s, she helped her family by working in the fields picking strawberries.
She received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of South Florida in the mid-1960s and went on to have a successful 40-year career as an elementary school teacher.
Mrs. Longerich was a member of The Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church in Lecanto.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Paul Longerich; daughter, Kimberly Pate; son, Carl Longerich; granddaughter, Margaret Grant; grandsons, Andrew Dees and Liam Longerich; brothers, Charles Woodard and Robert Woodard; and sister, Debbie Crews.
Visitation and service were held Saturday, Oct. 11, at Fero Funeral Home in Beverly Hills. Burial at First Baptist Dover Cemetery.
