Obituary: Charles ‘€œCharlie’€ Floyd

Charles “Charlie” Floyd, 71, of Plant City, died March 20, 2015, in Wesley Chapel.

A native of Knights Station, he was the son of Ernest Floyd and Sarah Anderson Floyd. Mr. Floyd retired as a project engineer with FDOT after 43 years of service. He was a charter member of the Cork Knights Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Springhead Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Floyd and his wife, Cynthia, were married March 28, 1969, and the family is observing their wedding anniversary with the date of Charlie’s funeral.

Survivors include his children, Chuck, Ernie and Andrew Floyd and Dawn Walker; and grandchildren, Nicole Walker, Natalee Gillespie, Zachary Floyd and Sophia “Fig” Floyd. Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia Floyd; and his oldest grandson, Johnathan (Johny) Walker. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Church On The Rock, with funeral services to follow. Donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
