Obituary: Evelyn F. Terry

Evelyn F. Terry died Dec. 7, 2014, from liver failure, at her home in Plant City.

Mrs. Terry was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Mulberry, to the late Dr. Manly Fouts and Irvie Sweat Fouts. She graduated from Florida Southern College in 1955, and married her high school sweetheart, LH Terry Jr. a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Military Police stationed in Germany. She returned to Florida to begin her careers as a devoted wife, loving mother and teacher. She taught at Carlton Palmore Elementary, Southwest Middle School in Lakeland and Simmons Career Center. She touched so many of her students’ lives with her compassion and love of education. She was an accomplished piano player, loved cooking, traveling and spending time with friends and family. In fact, she was “mom” to so many of her own children’s friends.

Mrs. Terry was recently predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Linton H. Terry Jr. She is survived by a loving family that includes children, Cynthia Terry (John Singler) of Lakeland, Linton Terry of Plant City and Patricia Randall (Blaine) of Port Orange; grandchildren, Linton M. Terry (Nicole) of Lakeland, Aubrey Krueger (Bob) of Tampa, Kristen Terry (Jarrod) of Alabama, and Abigayle and Emma Randall of Port Orange; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Braden, and Linton ‘LJ’ Terry, and Trey Krueger; brother, George M. Fouts Sr. (Gloria) of Lakeland; and many cousins, nieces, relatives by marriage, and her beloved dog, Molly.
