James W. Grossman, 86, died Sept. 26, 2014, with his family at his side, from Parkinson’s disease.
Mr. Grossman was born Nov. 7, 1927, in Rocheport, Missouri. After high school, he joined the military, retiring with the rank of chief master sergeant after 23 years in the U.S. Air Force.
He then settled with his family in Plant City, working until 1989 at the Brandon Post Office. Mr. Grossman was active in his community, serving as a charter member of the Springhead Volunteer Fire Department and a deacon at Medulla Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Janet Grossman; son, Ed Grossman; and daughter, Susan Keen, all of Lakeland. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ben, Amy and Andrea.
A memorial service was held Sept. 30, at Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Grossman to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home.
