Perry Elliot Johnson, 81, of High Springs, Florida, and formerly of Plant City, died June 5, 2015 in Gainesville.
He was a 1951 graduate of Plant City High School and a 1955 graduate of the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Gators football team. He was a teacher, real estate broker and appraiser for many years, but his real love was thoroughbred horses which he owned, raised and trained with his wife for over 45 years.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dorothy; two sons, Greg Johnson (Nancy), of North Carolina and Sean Dale Johnson (Judy), of Englewood; daughter, Debby Keene (LaRoyce), of Plant City; two stepchildren and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Alec and Beulah Johnson; brother John “Jack” Johnson; sisters Virginia Blanton, Edith Flick and Betty Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Sharon Baptist Church, 3506 Young Road, Plant City.
