Roy “R.J.”Willaford
Roy “R.J.”Willaford, 94, of Englewood and Plant City, died Jan. 31, 2017.
A native of Plant City, he was the son of the late LeRoy and Frances Mallard Willaford. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II in the Pacific Theater as a bomber pilot on air craft carriers. After returning from the war, he helped run the Mud River Fish Camp with his father. He managed Buddy Austin’s Ranch and Jim Walters Thunder Cloud Ranch. He later worked for and retired from the Jim Walters Corporation.
He is survived by his children, Ann Marie Dawson (Len) and Jason Willaford (Ree); grandchildren, Evan Trapnell, Justin Trapnell and Camille Marie Willaford.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Jo Spear.
A funeral service was held Feb. 7, at First Baptist Church of Plant City.
