Sadie Lentz Lobo, 94, of Temple Terrace, died May 4, 2015, at University Village in Tampa.
Born Feb. 3, 1921, in Commerce, Georgia, to John Henry and Mildred Lentz, she came to Florida with her family at age 5. She and her six brothers and two sisters attended public schools in Seffner, Brandon and Plant City. She received a bachelor’s in economics from Florida State College for Women, now FSU, following which she worked in the state department of education. She subsequently served under the Governor’s Office as General Secretary to the Florida Citizens Committee on Education for the study of education in Florida. She worked during two Florida legislative sessions, while on leave from DOE. She then transferred to Gainesville as secretary to the dean of the College of Education at the University of Florida for two years. She came back to Tampa, following her marriage to Tony Lobo, her husband of 46 years, who proceeded her in death. During those years, she worked for the Hillsborough County School Board and four Superintendents of Schools.
She is survived by her son, Lance Cory Lobo; brothers, Frank Lentz and Henry Lentz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held May 9, at Blount and Curry Terrace Oaks Funeral Home, Temple Terrace. Burial at Sunset Memory Gardens.
