Sidney Wayne Smith, 70, of Valrico, died July 15, 2016, at his home.
A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he was the son of Woodrow and Vernie Burch Smith. He loved LSU Tigers football. He was an inventor, holding several patents in the security systems field. He spoke with his cousin, who lived in Baton Rouge, every day.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Melissa Nabors Brandon-Smith; brother, Stan Smith; cousin, Charles Howse; and niece, Robbin Lewis.
A memorial service was held at Haught Funeral Home in Plant City.
