Wiley “Gene” Murphy, 88, of Plant City, died Sept. 3, 2015.
Mr. Murphy was a longtime member of Midway Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, RA leader and training union director. He loved his family and his church, and he enjoyed witnessing for his Lord.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Louise Linton Murphy; daughters, Loretta Norris (Lonnie), of Mulberry, Linda Williams (Clifton), of Lee, and Kathy Carter (Bob), of North Carolina; grandchildren, Don, Dean (Lisa), Shane (Pam), Brent (Michele), Jessica and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Hannah, Cheyenne, Bryce and Brock; and many other family and friends.
A celebration of life was held Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Hopewell Funeral Home in Plant City. A committal followed at Hopewell Memorial Gardens in Plant City. The family extends a special thanks to the loving and dedicated workers at the Health Care Center of Plant City.
