A 2000 Jeep Cherokee struck two pedestrians crossing Highway 574 Sunday, March 22, killing one.
The SUV, driven by Clifford Halford, 59, of Plant City, was traveling east on Highway 574. He did not see the pedestrians, Noe Lara-Garcia, 50, and Rosa Castro, 54, both of Plant City, crossing the road to the El Koco Loco Bar and Grill, from a field north of the location that is used for parking.

Plant City Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Lara-Garcia to Tampa General Hospital, with serious injuries not believed to be life threatening. Castro died at the scene.
Halford was uninjured.
There are no charges at this time. The crash is still under investigation.
