One eight-foot alligator was caught Friday, April 29.
A trapper from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation has caught one alligator in Walden Lake.
On Friday, April 29, the trapper caught an eight-foot female alligator. The gator caught was not the same one that attacked Eddie Evans, the community's landscape contractor, last month.
"This is not the alligator in question, but it is a potential nuisance given that it came up to the trapper to be fed," WLCA President Dan Orrico said. "The trapper suspects that the gator that attacked Eddie (Evans) is coming in at night."
The gator that was caught has been removed from Walden Lake. Both Orrico and Walden Lake Site Manager Thomas Sholl were unsure if the gator would be euthanized.
Warning signs have been placed in the area surrounding Walden Lake, but Orrico urges residents to use caution in the area and to refrain from feeding the alligators.
The trapper who has been coming out to Walden Lake has been operating on a 45-day permit. If the permit expires before the gator that attacked Evans is caught, it will likely be renewed.
