One woman was taken to Lakeland Regional Hospital after she wrecked her motorcycle on State Road 39 Dec. 6.
Brenda Messick Deese, 50, was driving her 2007 Honda VTX 1300 R northbound on State Road 39 south of Trapnell Road in the inside lane. Approaching the traffic signal at Trapnell Road around noon, she applied brakes in an attempt to stop. Messick lost control of the motorcycle, which skidded for 32 feet before overturning. She was ejected from the motorcycle as it continued to slide for another 160 feet, coming to final rest at the intersection.
She was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
