Thanks to the Plant City Optimist Club, the Plant City Family YMCA no longer needs to worry about basketball.
The Optimists invited Plant City Y executive director Zach Hilferding and sports director A.J. Hernandez to their Monday, Oct. 17, meeting, where the two men were presented with a donation: seven new basketballs and one new ball pump. According to Hilferding, the Plant City Y's basketballs were not in good condition, and both of its ball pumps were broken.
"The timing for this donation is perfect," Hilferding said at the meeting.
Hilferding and Hernandez also spoke to the Optimists about the Plant City Y's recent and upcoming additions and improvements to its sports programs.
