The Plant City Optimist Club needs student volunteers to help work at its tree sale, in a tent in front of Plant City High School.
The annual Christmas tree sale runs to Friday, Dec. 12. It is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the weekends.
Students can earn up to eight hours of community service per day they work by volunteering for the tree sale. Signing up to help the community and the school can be done at room J05 at the school. Volunteer hours are no longer required to graduate, but are useful, if not required, for some college scholarships.
The club will be selling trees to collect funds for the Booster club. The sale also has a limited supply of tree stands and wreaths available. The Optimist club is also offering a discount on the price of their trees if you bring a nonperishable boxed or canned good, to help the club collect food for needy children and families.
