Pastor celebrates 58 years

Pastor Robert Herrin is celebrating his 58th year in ministry. Church of God is holding a service to celebrate Robert Herrin’s 17 years at the Plant City church at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13.

He came to Plant City Church of God in October 1998, from a church in Jacksonville.

Originally from Brunswick, Georgia, he graduated from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies.

He and his wife, Lisa Herrin, have been married for 21 years. They were both widowed when they met.

Robert Herrin was married to his first wife, Schaunell, for 28 years. They had two children: Torrey, who pastors The Bridge in Buford, Georgia, and Latese Brownlow, who serves as administrative assistant to Robert Herrin at Plant City Church of God.

Lisa Herrin’s son, Joe Quesenberry, lives in Kentucky with his family.

The Herrins are the proud grandparents of five.

Robert Herrin loves to read and enjoys opportunities to mentor younger pastors as they request help.

His call to ministry came in a 1956 revival meeting.

“There have been so many happy moments in my life,” he said. “In every season I have been blessed and fulfilled.”

The best lesson he’s learned in almost 60 years of ministry is to never over-obligate, whether it’s for the church or for personal issues.
