The 1982 boys team, which won a state championship, will be presented with rings on Saturday, May 20.
Thirty-five years ago, Plant City High School's boys basketball team won a state title. On Saturday, May 20, the team will get some new rings to show for it.
The 1982 Raiders will reconvene in Plant City that evening to be formally honored in a dinner ceremony, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Florida Strawberry Festival's Expo Hall, 2508 Oak Ave. Individual tickets cost $25, and a table sponsorship can be had for $500.
Funds raised by the dinner will benefit Plant City's basketball programs. Event organizer Danny McIntyre, also the girls team's head coach, says that the school is hoping to purchase new "throwback" uniforms for the team to wear in upcoming games.
Ticket and sponsorship sales end Monday, May 15. For more information, and to buy tickets online, visit PCHS1982.com.
