The Plant City Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that left one injured early Friday morning.
PCPD Spokesman Al Van Duyne said an officer was patrolling in the area of Collins Street just after midnight Friday when they heard multiple gunshots coming from the direction of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Police said multiple people were in the area of MLK Boulevard and Palmer Street, but all dispersed when police arrived.
Police said they found no signs of injury on the scene, but were notified of a gunshot victim at South Florida Baptist a short while later. The victim, an unidentified juvenile, told police he was walking on Palmer Street when he was hit by shots fired from the backseat of a four-door sedan. The suspect is believed to have fired from a green or brown Nissan Altima.
Van Duyne said more information in this active investigation will be released as it becomes available.
