PEDESTRIAN KILLED BY TRAIN NEAR DOWNTOWN

On November 20, at 6:50 p.m., the Plant City Police Department (PCPD) responded to a train versus pedestrian incident. Information from the PCPD communications center indicated that a pedestrian had been struck by a train, with reports of severe injuries. Upon arrival at the railroad crossing at N. Howard Street, south of NW Drane Street, officers, along with Plant City Fire Rescue, (PCFR) located an unidentified Hispanic male with critical injuries. Officers assisted PCFR. The male was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased due to the critical injuries.

The CSX Police Department was notified of the incident and responded to the scene to conduct a parallel investigation.

CSX issued a statement, “….There were no injuries to the crew of the train. CSX extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragedy, and we will work on scene to support local law enforcement as they continue to investigate.
