Bryan Elementary School's Academically Gifted Program students warmed many hearts – and feet – this Valentine's Day.
The AGP students visited the Community Care Center to spend time with its senior residents, donating socks and Valentine's Day cards and reading books with them. It was an idea inspired by news stories about children that have made a positive difference in their communities when things weren't going so well.
Students from all over the school were able to donate 129 pairs of socks – one for each bed in the center, plus nine extra pairs – and, led by teachers Heather Patrick and Jacquelyne Rios, made the cards by hand. AGP students brought some of their books to the center, introduced themselves to the seniors and made new friends while reading.
