Durant has done it again.
The Lady Cougars clinched another district championship win Thursday night, beating runner-up Strawberry Crest in three sets.
“It’s amazing,” head coach Brittany Wilson says. “And, doing it in three (sets) is even better. They beat us in three the last time they came to Durant, so this was huge.”
After winning the first set, 25-19, Durant found itself trailing Strawberry Crest for part of the second. The girls battled their way to a 22-22 tie, then 24-24, 25-25 and, when Crest took a 26-25 lead, Durant went on a 3-0 run to win it.
The Lady Chargers opened the third set with a 3-0 run, and the two teams battled for momentum until Durant pulled ahead for good with a 5-0 run, starting with a 10-9 lead. The score for the final set was 25-18.
