An accident occurred between 10-10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the intersection of North Wheeler Street and West Reynolds Street.
According to officer Tommy Morris, a master control officer for the Plant City Police Department, a gold Ford Explorer pickup truck ran the red light going north to south on North Wheeler street as a semi truck collided with it heading down West Reynolds. Both vehicles went over the curb on the cover of the intersection near Sun Trust Bank.
A witness, who was stopped at the red light on Wheeler, saw the incident and reported it to Morris.
Four passengers were in the pickup. Three experience minor injuries while the fourth, a teenage boy, was transported to Lakeland Regional Hospital. The condition of the fourth passenger remains unknown at this time.
The driver of the semi was unharmed. Both vehicles caught fire shortly after all involved exited their vehicles. Alex Fraga, the branch manager at Sun Trust Bank, came out after hearing the accident and helped drag the teenage boy out of the pickup with the help of several others.
Traffic is now open on both roads at the intersection.
