For the past five years, Durant High's Criminal Justice program hasn't been shy about honoring those who protect and serve.
On Wednesday, April 20, the program hosted its annual Breakfast for Heroes, which serves food to members of Plant City Police Department, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Corrections, as well as its own students. This year, 25 students were recognized with awards for having completed four years with the program.
The breakfast featured a slideshow presentation, several exhibits and a keynote speech from TECO Senior Corporate Investigator Bill Davis, who has 39 years of law enforcement experience in the area.
Note: An earlier version of this article stated that the breakfast has been hosted for three years. It has been updated to correct the error.
