Though the end result was a familiar one – Durant winning again – the means were a little different.
The Cougars’ win on the road not only keeps their unblemished season intact, but also means that they’ll finish unbeaten in district play. Or, just about unbeaten, as the Lady Raiders did steal a set in the 3-1 match.
When Plant City took that second set, it became the very first time in the season that a district opponent had taken one from this formidable Durant squad.
There are two games left in Plant City’s season, with the next one coming Thursday at Jefferson High School. As for Durant, there’s just one last match: a rematch with Bloomingdale, who gave the Cougars their only loss of the year this preseason.
