Since the only disappointment at the 52nd annual East Hillsborough Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner was the fact that the Corvettes at the door weren’t prizes, one could call the event a success.
Approximately 450 guests showed up to the Florida Strawberry Festival Exhibition Hall on Tuesday night, many of which were past and present officers of the law. Four current officers, each in a different organization, were honored with Officer of the Year awards: Detective Manuel Gonzalez (Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office), Officer Craig Baker (Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission), Trooper Matt Williams (Florida Highway Patrol) and Detective Robert McLellan (Plant City Police Department).
