PHOTO GALLERY: Family remembers Stacey Parkerson

It’s been a year since Stacey Parkerson was hit and killed walking on the side of Sydney Road near her family’s home to a convenient store just yards away.

About a dozen friends and family members gathered to remember the 40-year-old with a big heart. They walked to the strawberry field across from where she was hit by Dannie Ray Dixon Jr. who was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. Clutching a smiley face balloon, her mother, Kathy Gamble, wept at her roadside marker decorated with flowers. Her brother-in-law Brad Glass embraced her sister, Michelle Glass, before it was time to let go.

As the sun was setting, family released a lantern, made by her longtime friend Scott Grace, into the sky.
