Bras, boas and plenty of pink was seen at Country Meadows Wednesday as a golf cart parade weaved through the streets of the 55-plus community as part of a breast cancer awareness campaign.
The event was one of several this week at Country Meadows, including a women’s only golf tournament at the club course Thursday. This is the fourth year Country Meadows has raised money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
According to event organizer Nancy Williams, more than $5,400 dollars was raised last year and that total has already been surpassed with this year’s efforts. All funds raised goes to the foundation, with 75 percent staying with local chapters.
According to Williams, 85 women participated in the golf tournament Thursday. That was the third event this week, with a men’s tournament held Tuesday.
