For the 27th year, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Festival was kicked off with an opening ceremony and luncheon Friday at the MLK Recreation Center.
The event was sponsored by the Improvement League of Plant City. This year’s theme is “Faith, the Foundation of the Dream.” Special guests at the event included Plant City mayor Mike Sparkman and Rev. Dr. Shafter E. Scott of St. Mary M.B. Church.
The event also included performances from the Lincoln Magnet School second- and third-grade chorus and the Pride Drum Ensemble, made up of third through fifth-graders, as well as Gentlemen’s Quest, a group from Marshall Middle School.
