Plant City’s Next Radical Generation (NRG) hosted a talent show Saturday, June 4, for singers in third through ninth grades. The Sing Out Loud! show was held at Plant City Entertainment.
A total of 11 contestants performed, and the night was complete with three NRG group performances and a solo by high school senior Kenzie Wheeler.
The talent show allows kids to showcase their love of performing, with a chance of eventually joining the company.
Marissa Steiner performed in the show last year, and is now a member of NRG Uprising.
“I wanted to join since I saw them at the (Florida) Strawberry Festival,” she said.
The kids are taught vocal performance, stage presence and confidence.
“I’ve been here since kindergarten,” Barie Fry, daughter of NRG founder Yvonne Fry said. “I love to sing, it’s one of my passions. I also like that the environment is around our friends. It teaches us leadership … we all grow in a way.”
The category winners of the June 4 show were Cheyenne Cramer, Laia Ulery and Zachary Alderice. Maya Howard was named the fan favorite, and Ali Kumpu was the overall winner.
