Saturday’s biggest highlight was the 41st annual Civitan Club Youth Parade and, as usual, it didn’t disappoint.
In addition to the numerous amount of middle and high school bands that marched down West Reynolds Street at 11 a.m., spectators also got to see several creative floats, such as the 4-H Club’s cow and strawberry farm, and Robinson Elementary’s bubble-blasting strawberry recipe display.
A couple of hours after the parade ended, youths from age 5 to 15 went to the Stingray Chevrolet tent to enter the Youth Strawberry Stemming Contest. Whoever could stem 20 strawberries in the shortest amount of time won special prizes, such as an iTunes gift card, and everyone got to take their strawberries home.
