Tomlin Middle School held its annual Lock Ceremony Friday, May 19.

The event honors students who have maintained straight-A grades throughout the entire school year. The event was started last year by the Parent-Teacher-Student Association. Straight-A students were presented with a lock to hang in the school's lobby. The locks serve as a tangible reminder of their scholastic accomplishments, something those students can return to and look at as a reminder their hardwork paid off, Mayor Rick Lott, who spoke at the event, said.

The event was coupled with the school's Law Enforcement Appreciation, where representatives from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Florida State Troopers and Plant City Police Department were honored.
