The students at Walden Lake honored U.S. military veterans and active duty service members for their dedication, Nov. 7.

First- and second-graders had designed a special American flag banner that was displayed in the courtyard where the program took place. Pack 5 Cub Scouts presented the American flag and led the school with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by The National Anthem sung by Debbie Gray, a third grade Teacher.

Principal Dina Wyatt welcomed our veterans in attendance and introduced three fifth-graders to speak on what Veterans Day means to them.  Quinton Kahelin, Makenzie Cole and Tytan Watson gave the speeches. Dina Wyatt also performed a violin solo of “America the Beautiful.”

The Eagle Chorus, made up of fourth- and fifth-graders performed the Patriotic Medley acknowledging the service branches.

Our guest speaker was Chaplain Daniel Middlebrooks, U.S. Army, brother of Debbie Gray. He spoke of the ‘three Cs’ for students to remember: calisthenics: Get moving daily; cadence: Get in step; character: Show honor and respect to our flag and country.
