The weather stayed clear and the overnight rain had the fish biting for the 36th Youth Fishing Derby, held Saturday at the pond behind the Randy L. Larson Softball Four-Plex.
This is the 17th year the Plant City Recreation and Parks Department has held a youth fishing derby, allowing parents and their children of all skill levels to come out and enjoy a morning full of fishing.
At the conclusion of the event, awards were given in multiple categories, including first fish caught and most overall weight caught.
Another derby is planned for this fall.
